kudos to kevin spacey

Published by nekudotayim under Random

I was uploading a couple of videos on youtube (my first uploads there, creating my first youtube account ever in the process), when I came across a video of Kevin Spacey doing impressions of numerous actors.

Man! If you’ve never ever found a reason to love Kevin Spacey, you’ve got to see this video! Amazing! My favorites are his James Stewart, Brando and Al Pacino impressions. Really, amazing. Watch out for the part where he utters the Jimmy Stewart’s “Yes”. Damn perfect!

If you thought Cate Blanchett did a very good job in The Aviator (which she undoubtedly did!), see Kevin Spacey in this video! Amazing, ain’t it. Not even Jane Fonda could do a Katharine Hepburn like that (I saw hers in an interview about On Golden Pond, Henry Fonda’s last movie; which also starred Katharine Hepburn; the two veteran actors won Oscars for it; one of my favorite movie by the way).

What does it take to do an impression? A lot of people seem to do it pretty well (I recalled a friend could mimic most of our lecturers rather effortlessly). Amazing.

Anyway, here’s one of the videos I said I was uploading. It’s Dustin Hoffman doing a Robert Duvall. I used to think that Robert Duvall’s high, excited tone is difficult to match. Well, not anymore.

crying every chance he got

“I’m sixty-eight, I cry every chance I can.” - Dustin Hoffman.

I guess that explains it. I watched a few interviews in which Dustin Hoffman broke into tears. On one occasion I was misty-eyed myself during a story he was recounting.

early spring day’s [bad]dream

Published by nekudotayim under Random

They say it’s now officially spring in the US, but since I am not and have never been living in a four-season country, I don’t know what spring is like, so it does not matter to me. Even more so because today I broke a $700 worth of a glass dining table.

I was cleaning the floor. When it came to the table’s area, I perhaps swept it a little too hard against one of the table’s supporting legs. The leg fell, I was not quick enough to react, the table crumbled, the glass crashed against the floor, and broke into a million pieces.

The day started quite well for me. I slept well. Woke up early in the morning, fixed and enjoyed myself a good breakfast, watched a couple of sitcom episodes, then took a little more bed time. Woke up again, shopped for some groceries, humming all the way. Back, cleaned up my room, the next [vacant] room, then the living room. And it happened.

It’s not even a year yet since they bought it. Yeah, unfortunately the table it’s not mine. It belonged to my house mates, the ones that got married a couple of months back. Although they did not say anything about me compensating, it’s just my obligation to do so, now isn’t it. Well, some time in the future perhaps, I cannot afford it yet.

I swept against many tables before, including this one, so I was quite sure the legs could stand my broom stick sweeping. Hmm, not really, come to think of it, it never once occurred to me to ponder “I am about to sweep this area underneath the table, will the table fall when the broom stick hits the legs?”. Oh my, how I took things for granted.

Bad, bad bad day. Weekend is supposed to be fun.

This was the table on its first day.

pursuit of happyness

“Because when I was young, and I’d get an A on a history test or whatever,  I’d get this good feeling about all the things that I could be.  And then I never became any of them.”

thou shalt not happen

They always say, waiting for accident to happen is as bad, if not worse, as the actual accident itself. “Sometimes I think I could get up and dance“.
